San Francisco Giants
Celebrate The Arc
What’s it like to be on the baseball field in front of thousands of cheering Giants fans? “Very cool! We were waving to everybody, and everybody was waving to us,” said Tatyana Boyko, one of 5 clients invited to a home plate ceremony honoring The Arc, the clients we serve, and artists with developmental disabilities.
The recent AT&T Park event took place before a Giants vs. Marlins day game, and gave fans a taste of The Arc with a pre-game video showing highlights from our art programs. After the video presentation, clients stationed at the Community Clubhouse gave out bookmarks featuring original art by artist Noki Li while artist and author Kellie Greenwald, daughter of former Giants announcer Hank Greenwald, signed copies of her book, “The Art of Possibilities.”
Kellie, an artist with Down syndrome, says her goal is to teach other people with disabilities how to publish a book of their own. “My book took two years to create and at times it was very hard, but I did it, and I think others should tell their stories, too.
